Pre-convention
trips to Lava Caves – July 31 through August 4
Cave trips to a number of caves of the Indian
Heavens Volcanic Field, depending on caver
interests and skill levels. Trips may be
self guided with detailed instructions and maps
provided, or led. Trip suggestions include
Dynamited Cave (vertical), Slime or New Caves
(children), Pickings Cave (maze), or Dead Horse
Cave (through trip). Appropriate caving
gear is required, these caves are in total
darkness.
Accommodations are
available at a residence in Trout Lake for a
limited number of cavers (write soon), Klickitat
County Park in Trout Lake, USFS campgrounds, or
local motels. Meet at 9am at the Mt Adams Ranger
station in Trout Lake each morning.
