Local Vicinity - Three-Mile Creek

There will be 3 guided digging trips to Three-Mile Creek. The first trip is the Sunday before convention on the 6th. The second is the Saturday following convention on the 12th. The third is the Sunday following convention on the 13th. Trip sign-up sheets and details will be available in the trips area near registration.

Come prepared to get damp and dirty. Bring your standard caving gear and anything that you have found to be useful in digging, but vertical gear is not necessary. The main room has a fair amount of light, but it fades quickly at the back. The dig passage has no natural light source.

The primary goal of the first trip is to expand the working pit to allow for more than one person to work in it at a time. Secondary goals are to lower the floor in the new passage to the level of the pit floor, and continue enlarging the working pit. This project can easily accommodate 5 people. If there are enough we can get started on another buried passage.

The cave is located just outside Concrete. The scenic drive from Bellingham to Concrete is just over 1 hour. The final approach to the cave travels over a few miles of dirt Forest Service roads. Driving directions will be available at convention.

There is not much room for parking at the cave, so, while fair-sized groups are welcome to make the removal process easier, carpooling is strongly advised.
