Wanted: Judges for T-shirt & Symbolic Emblem Salon

Have you been looking for a way to volunteer your time at Convention that doesn't involve any heavy lifting or answering registration questions?

Do you like wearing T-shirts with cool caving designs?

Are you a collector of caving-related stuff like pins, patches, and coffee mugs?

Do you have strong opinions about what you like and don't like in a design?

If your answer to any of these questions is yes, then please consider being a judge for the T-shirt Salon and Symbolic Emblem Salon. No previous experience is necessary.

Please contact me via email or look for me in the Western Gallery (bldg 24 on the campus map) on Sunday or Monday morning at Convention.

Thanks -

Call for first aid volunteers:

I'm looking for volunteers to put in some spare time at the first aid station(s) during the convention. I'm not looking for 24/7 coverage, nor looking for someone to dedicate themselves  for all day service. I'm a fan of short shifts and no crispy burnouts.  We are all here to enjoy ourselves.

I'm simply looking for people who want to make themselves available to:

  • Staff the first aid station, and/or carry a radio during the day and  evening around the Sehome campground.
  • Someone hanging around the evening parties and dances to.
  • If someone is willing on one or more nights to sleep with a radio on a medical dedicated "quiet" channel at night in the campground, it would be appreciated.  I will be doing the same from the dorms on the University side of the convention (on the "other" side of the hill).

Any certified volunteers are welcome.  From Basic Red Cross First Aid to higher certifications.
We will be working under the Washington State Good Samaritan Laws as volunteers.  Here are the websites for the current related Washington State Laws:

(1) General good sam law. 4.24.300
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=4.24.300

(2) limited Immunity for rescuers. 70.136.070
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=70.136.070

(3) immunity for AED Users. 70.54.310
http://apps.leg.wa.gov/rcw/default.aspx?cite=70.54.310

Higher certifications may wish to look at their local jurisdictions regulations and Washington state regulations on how any licenses transfer between jurisdictions.

The only aid I hope volunteers would give is the basic American Red Cross first aid level.  Anything else gets sent off site.

Even though I'm trying to wrangle a small budget for sunscreen and Band-Aids, I always welcome anyone who wants to bring a personal kit they are familiar with.  I'm hauling mine along with me.

Thank you very much for volunteering to make this a fun and safe convention for everyone!
