Welcome: Tourism

Hiking is the passion of the Northwest.  The region is, after all, the birthplace of REI. Of course, where there is hiking there is Mountain Biking.

The Chuckanut Mountain Trail system is a labyrinth of interconnecting multi-use trails just ten minutes south of Bellingham on over 8,000 acres of wilderness. All of this is a part of the larger Watcom County trail system, which contains over 40 miles of developed trails.

The North Cascades National Park, Rainier National Park, and the Olympic National Park represent hundreds of miles of hiking and mountaineering opportunities, and all are daytrips from Bellingham.

The San Juan Islands are considered one of the premier sea kayaking sites in the world, and must be seen to be believed.

Seattle and Vancouver, B.C., provide all of the cosmopolitan experiences you could desire with that special internationalized Northwest flair.

Victoria, B.C., is one of the top destinations for sightseeing and tourism, offering old world charms and something distinctly northwest in addition to the world famous Butchart Gardens.

The Bellingham Mt. Baker region has more public golf courses than any other region in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho according to Golf Digest magazine. From the rolling contours of a Scottish-style course to one of the best civic links in the nation, this region is ideal for a golfing getaway.

Arts and culture are a fundamental part of the Northwest experience. There are a good number of museums in the city of Bellingham and dozens more within an easy drive.
In Bellingham, there is an abundance of water in pristine, unspoiled environments. Go sailing on our lakes and in the Sound. Try charter fishing trips in the stunning San Juan Islands. Take an exhilarating raft trip on the Nooksack River. Watch the mighty Orca whales glide majestically in their home waterways. Explore and find quiet salt-water coves alive with sea urchins and starfish.

There are so many things to do in Western Washington, we had to break it out into various sections.  Come for a week or come for longer, you will be entertained and delighted.
